A moment of rememberance for the victims of the attacks in Mumbai.
I'm a Buddhist, and I eat meat. (Sounds like AA!)
Convincing someone to go veg takes finesse, and it is usually approached like a sledgehammer against the head.
Since I'm a Buddhsit there is especially this heavy slam of guilt and judgementalism.
Like, "I can't believe you are not a vegan! How dare you?!!"
But...recently, I have been considering vegetarianism.
I have stopped eating red meat, which is really not a stretch for me.
Now I'm thinking about lopping out bird meat.
Factory farming and inhumane treatment is just weighing heavily on me.
And I love da' birdies.

Rewrites and defence and then................DONE!!!!
Disclaimers first: HuffPo is full of quacks and people with an axe to grind.
*I* don't particularly have an axe to grind, and I don't subscribe to any extreme view...though I am an unashamed liberal (by my own interpretation >:})

Since I'm getting a degree in public health, and I'm a doctor, people ask me all the time if they should get the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines.
My answer is "it depends..."
For myself, I don't get the seasonal flu vaccine for many reasons, not the least of which is that I like to give my immune system a workout every once in a awhile.
Toughen it up a bit!
I'm also a compulsive hand washer, and I rarely get sick.
I avoid children like the plague rats they are.
I MAY get the H1N1 vaccine, or I may not.
For my own self, I need to do more research as to ingredients and efficacy.
I certainly believe in vaccines for all those numerous killers of yore: rubella, smallpox, measles, hepatitis, yellow fever, etc...
Theres more mercury in my fillings that stay in my mouth, than there is in vaccines.
We are swimming in a soup of chemical and environmental toxins that make vaccines look as safe as milk duds.
I hate telling people that I don't get the vaccines because its seen as siding with the fuck-tard fruit loops who think vaccines cause everything from autism to zoophilia.
I agree with Maher that as a society, we really need to reconsider the whole unhealthy modern lifestyle/ medical rescue mind-set.
If you eat nothing but McDonalds your whole life, there is no magic pill to "fix" you, no matter what big pharma and the media claims.
And in fact, there shouldn't be!!
Eat healthy, wash your hands, keep the kids sealed in airtight plastic bags and excersize.
A healthy host is the best way to fight flu...unless it's the end of the world.
Then we are f*%$#ed.
This is associated with the bodhicitta post.
Statistically I am more intelligent than 97.5% of the population.
But I don't feel that way, because all of my friends and loved ones are around the same IQ.
I live in intellectual bohemia.
But I deal with the public on the weekends and they ARE SO *%$#@ STUPID!!!!!!!
I'm ready to beat their heads into the concrete.
Everyone tells me "Well thats how people are", but I can not accept that people are so stupid and it makes me ANGRY!!!
I expect them to act like adults and not retarded 6 year olds.
And I'm angry when they don't live up to my expectations.
So.
Unrealistic expectations of others leads to anger.
Check.
I expect people to not act stupid.
Check.
The public is rutabaga stupid. (Intellectually I know that but I don't really buy it.)
Check.
So I must readjust my expectations of peoples intelligence.
Er...check?
That is going to be a hard row to hoe.
On occasion I have overcome this hostility to manifest bodhicitta, but it is short lived and very difficult.
Usually it takes months of intense practice and meditation.
So, pan-anthro hostility is pretty much a torpedo for developing manifest and abiding bodhicitta.
The problem is, that this hostility is very, very deeply ingrained.
I grasp it as much as I grasp inherent self-existance.
I will have to think about this.
There must be a way to dislodge it, but I do not know the antidotes yet.
Maybe 18".
I was planning on growing it out until I ordain and then donating it again.
Its getting a bit unmanageable though.
I was thinking of cutting it a la
Maybe I should wait until it's a little longer and then cut it?
I can donate it then.

Put my stethescope on to make a "costume".
Had a mother comment on on the "nurse" giving out the candy.
Um.
A woman in scrubs is not automatically a nurse...she's a f***ing doctor dammit!!!1!eleventy!!~!
I don't see why those two are exclusive, actually.
Kidding!
It's not that other people don't have the same urges that I do.
I just give them voice.
I also have a fondness for Koreans and Canadians.
That is all.
If no one is here, I don't get anything done!
I have highspeed internets!
